Increase repeatability of you bar coating with our automatic bar coater. With 16 Mayer Rods included, experiment with a range of wet film coating thicknesses from 6 µm to 200 µm. These bar coating rods can be wire-wound or formed depending on your preference.
The automated system achieves coating speeds from 0.05 mm.s-1 up to 250 mm.s-1. High resolution of 0.1 mm.s-1 ensures precise and reliable bar movement. The programmable travel distance of up to 290 mm and maximum coating width of 225 mm provides a large coating area. The bar coater can either come with a simple glass stage or a vacuum stage for uniform holding across the whole substrate.

Bar Coater Features
Full Set of Mayer Rods
The Ossila Bar Coater includes a full set of 16 Mayer rods to give you complete flexibility in your coating processes. Ideal for comprehensive coating research, you can explore coating thicknesses from 6 µm to 200 µm. Plus, the system is also compatible many other types of applicator.
Formed or Wire-Wound
Choose between traditional wire-wound or new formed Mayer rods to fit your coating needs. Both achieve highly reproducible films, but formed rods are less prone to damage and contamination with an easily controlled packing density of the grooves.
Large Coating Area
Coat large-area samples, including sheet samples up to A4 size, with this complete bar coating system. With a programmable travel range up to 290 mm, you can also switch out your Mayer bars to vary your coating width because the system accommodates bar widths from 220 mm to 255 mm.
Wide Range of Coating Speeds
Using our tried and tested motorized stage, the bar coater achieves smooth, reliable movement. For coating with a wide range of solution viscosities without forming defects, you can set the speed as low as 0.05 mm.s-1 and up to 250 mm.s-1.
Choose Vacuum or Glass Stage
Mount the drip tray at either end of the system to match the direction of travel and quickly align your samples using the grid-patterned glass plate. You can also choose the vacuum bed stage to secure flexible samples. The quick-lock magnet stage design makes it easy to interchange stages for maximum flexibility.
